Desktop icon doesn't work with with Firefox 48

Postby EvilOverlord » 04 Sep 2016, 02:34

After updating my PC to Firefox 48, the RuneAudio installed icon refuses to open, saying it only works up to Firefox 47.

I tried uninstalling, but now I can't get it to install again - I recall it worked by just going to its local IP address, and it offered to install. Doesn't do that now, and http://runeaudio and runeaudio.local don't reach anything.

Hi EvilOverlord,

After updating my PC to Firefox 48, the RuneAudio installed icon refuses to open, saying it only works up to Firefox 47.

Mozilla has removed the feature used by RuneAudio, see here.
So no way to get it back with Firefox > 47.

and http://runeaudio and runeaudio.local don't reach anything.

On Windows http://runeaudio or http://runeaudio.
Works only if an Avahi/Bonjour client is installed!

Thanks. Disappointing, but useful.

Disappointed +1

Isn't there another way to make a standalone RuneUi client/app?

Firefox is such a resource hog (on my computer anyway) and the standalone RuneUi window was very nice.

I now use other clients, but they are not so responsive and don't have access to all the settings of Runeaudio...

Hi

Isn't there another way to make a standalone RuneUi client/app?

I have Midori running on my Windows PC and it works great with Rune Audio.
You can create a shortcut to your Desktop (Menu->Applications)

Search the app folder (in my case)
C:\Users\frank\AppData\Local\midori\apps\f97fc0d82b5f888bc9d1066af4421786
and modify the config file
Code: Select all
[settings]
default-encoding=ISO-8859-1
default-font-family=Times New Roman
monospace-font-family=Courier New
default-font-size=14
default-monospace-font-size=14
enable-site-specific-quirks=true
enable-javascript=true
default-charset=ISO-8859-1
last-window-width=941
last-window-height=529
last-window-state=MIDORI_WINDOW_MAXIMIZED
show-statusbar=false
show-navigationbar=false
zoom-level=1.2
homepage=http://192.168.0.88/
download-folder=C:\\Users\\frank\\Downloads
user-agent=Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1) AppleWebKit/538.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/18.0.1025.133 Safari/538.15 Midori/0.5

I changed these two lines:
show-navigationbar=false
zoom-level=1.2

Hi Frank,
Thanks, that's indeed a nice solution.
Do you also now if there is a way to remove the tabbar in Midori? So it would look even more clean and nicer. I don't seem to find it.
Thanks again,
Mattra

I use Min Browser now, a very minimalistic browser. Works nice, uses little resources.

Haven't found the setting yet though to make it even more minimalistic, and to set a zoom level at startup.

I use Chrome on my Windows desktops but I use "app" mode.

Here's the command line for my Windows shortcut:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" -app=http://192.168.1.126

This is what it looks like running on the desktop:

No menus, no scroll bars. It somehow remembers the last window size. I did have to create a Rune .ICO file to have a Rune icon for the shortcut since there's no RuneAudio executable for Windows to get one from :D .

If anyone wants the .ICO PM me, the forum software won't let me attach it.
