Cannnot Load HiFiBerry DAC Plus Pro XLR Module

Postby foxint » 26 Dec 2018, 22:15

Hi Guys

Hope you all had a good Christmas.

I have some time and trying to get the NEW HiFiBerry DAC Plus Pro XLR. Month down the track and it is still not working. I have tried to load the RuneOS kernel settings I2S kernel.

I have used the drop-down box and clicked on HiFiBerry DAC Plus Pro XLR. I have pushed Apply, I have re-booted, I have clicked the module and re-booted. Nothing will seem to make the HiFiBerry DAC Plus Pro XLR Stick. It defaults to PIFi DAC Plus.

Yes there is no sound.

Can any one help?

You have chosen the correct overlay and Rune is configured correctly. If you read the associated text it explains that sometimes the incorrect DAC will be displayed after a screen refresh.

After selecting the I2S card you need to reboot and then select the audio output in the MPD UI. Tip: before switching the audio output set the software 'start volume' to 100%, then after selecting the audio output switch the volume control to 'enabled - hardware'.

PS fixing the drop-down is on my to-do list.

Thanks mate.

Still not working for me.

Perhaps I had better wait for the upgrade. When will that be? I have gotten better at expanding and flashing the programme to the small disc. But it is a real pain in the bottom...Sorry, but I keep having to find the old laptop that has the flashing thing.

Happy to wait....any ideas when:

foxint,

I just picked up a Hifiberry DAC Plus Pro RCA and it worked fine. There may be a fundamental difference in the "XLR" model. But, on the off chance you may have missed something along the way, here are the steps I followed:
1. Install unit
2. Power up and go to “Settings” - change device to Hifiberry DAC + (the indicated resulting setting may be different)
3. Reboot
4. Goto ‘MPD”
5. Change output to Hifiberry DAC
6. Set Volume to “enabled - hardware”
7. Set Start Volume to “100”
Watch out that the volume can be easily changed by the user interface now. On my other systems I have outboard DACs and I have these set to volume disabled ( I use standard stereo amps). I found that on the Hifiberry, I accidentally lowered the volume and could not hear the unit.

You can also troubleshoot your DAC by prepping an up to date Rasbian image and following Hifiberry instructions on enabling this DAC. This would let you know if the issue is Runeaudio setup or your DAC.
Good luck

Hi foxint,
Please go to your debug UI and copy the lines from:
'###### System info ######'
to
'###### Kernel optimization parameters ######'.

Post these lines in your reply. Before Submitting your reply, select all the text from the debug and click the blue button called Code. Try Preview to see what it looks like.

Thank you.

Hi foxint,
Your HiFiBerry DAC Plus Pro XLR Module seems to be configured correctly.
You do not have any music to play. Was this different when you were testing?
There are upgrades available to the version of Rune which you are using. See here for the instructions: http://www.runeaudio.com/documentation/ ... /updating/ It's this bit:
You can check for and install these updates from the UI:

1. go to the dev section of the UI, typing http://runeaudio/dev or http://runeaudio.local/dev in your browser
2. set the Dev Mode to enabled
3. click the gitpull button (Update RuneUI)
4. hard refresh the cache of your browser (howto)
Then follow the instructions in this post: runeaudio-0-5-beta-for-all-raspberry-pi-models-t6532-310.html#p26802
Can you then retest and report back?
janui

PS The upgrade should fix your 'Cannot mount NAS' problem

Mate

Sorry..... "Update RuneUI - gitpull" did not do anything. All I got was a red circle with a red line through it. I did click Save Setting....still nothing.

Is there an instruction missing

??
