audio quality settings

Postby alexdiostia » 24 Sep 2017, 10:07

Hello
i'm new to RuneAudio, and i use it through RPi3 + jack-RCA cable to my home amplifier as AUX input.
with hdmi GUI on TV it is not useable (headless mode i read in forum...) so i control it only with my android device (which is the intended use case).
So thanks to v0.4-beta and the Access Point it becomes useable. That's really great!

despite i had to find the suitable SD card-USB adapter, it now shows the songs.

so the blocking problem now :) I have to turn the amplifier volume to the maximum to hear the music... which of course gives a low quality i would say.

Is there any way or setting to have a better audio quality ?

Thanks a lot for any advice
Cheers
Alex

Hi alexdiostia,

and I use it through RPi3 + jack-RCA cable to my home amplifier

The Pi (all versions) doesn't have a "real" output (DAC).
The analog output can only be used for low-quality audio.
Get an I2S sound card and enjoy your music.

I have to turn the amplifier volume to the maximum to hear the music

Check the alsamixer settings (http://yourIP:8080).

with hdmi GUI on TV it is not useable (headless mode i read in forum...)

Why? Because there is no cursor? Output doesn't fit the screen size?

The cursor can be enabled in "/root/.xinitrc" and you can also tweak the zoomfactor to get a fitting image in "/home/root/.config/midori/config".

- Get access to the console:
Use SSH from your PC
If you are not familiar with SSH read this for Windows or this for Linux/MacOS
The default login for RuneAudio is "root" with the password "rune" (without quotes).

- Use sftp to access files on Rune Audio:
Get WinSCP from here and install it.
When it opens setup the following:
- Session
File Protocol: SCP
Host name: The IP address of you Raspberry Pi
User name: root
Password: rune

That's it, connect and you can transfer files just by dragging and dropping.

Hi Frank

thanks a lot for your reply.
so i will look for a I2S card..

about not usable on TV :
i thought the "default" usage was to set the RPi/Rune to the same local wifi network as my android phone.
but i was unable to set the network key without the mouse (i must admit that i spent some time trying, blindly :) and i almost succeeded once, even with the keyboard window on top of the wifi key field, but then i gave up :) ). so i was extremely happy to discover in the forum the 0.4-beta with access point. Then connecting my phone to that AP, that looks ok :)

Thanks again
cheers
