Audio out is choppy on Teac UD-501

Postby smallfat » 17 Aug 2016, 21:25

Hi,

Recently, I have built a RuneAudio player (v0.3-beta (25/08/2015)
with ODROID C1+ for my friend.
He uses a Tenor 8802 based DSD DAC - Teac UD-501.
Audio out is choppy.

Here is some info I got

http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=112&t=13231
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1136110

Is it also the case for RuneAudio?
Will it be fixed in coming release.

Hi smallfat,

TEAC UD-501 are known for their buggy USB implementation.
A workaround for this is available since kernel 3.10.98.
The latest available kernel for ODROID is 3.10.96, so no joy at the moment.

If you like you can try to update the kernel
Code: Select all
pacman -Sy linux-odroid-c1

but this may break your installation.

Hi Frank,

Thanks your prompt reply.
That means I can update latest kernel 3.10.96 with command you state.
Then re-write RuneAudio image for C1+ and change what I needed.
It may works.

Or I wait for workaround kernel 3.10.98

Hi smallfat,

ODROID C2 is a totally different thing.

- runs on 64bit
- kernel version is 3.14.65

With the TEAC UD-501 on C2 i can not help, sorry.

Hi Frank,

I have not try UD-501 with C2.
Wait for your latest image for C2
I will test it.

This thread is for users discussing
compatibility of hardware and software.

I believe no one expect you will solve all of
the compatibility issue.

But users may avoid using this hardware.
Please list all compatibility issue as you known.
Otherwise, many kid question will come.
